THE VENUE

Costa Rica - bordered by the Carribean Sea and Pacific Ocean - evokes images of lush rainforests and untouched beaches. The culture of this place is incredibly aware of the natural beauty surrounding them.

We'll spend â€‹8 fabulous days at Tiskita Jungle Lodge enjoying morning yoga, walks through the jungle, and swimming in the warm waters of the Pacific. Located in the southern tip of the country, literally at the end of the road, you'll feel like you've just discovered a hidden gem.

Owners Peter and Lisbeth originally had plans for a fruit farm, but the sweet nectar only brought wildlife. Although that spelled disaster for sustaining the farm, they opened the property to visitors. And I'm so glad they did because now I get to share it with you!

Natural wood cabins, well-kept trails, clean beaches, and a dense canopy of tress add to the serene atmosphere making Tiskita Jungle Lodge the perfect location to â€‹discover something new about yourself.

And best of all, you can walk right out the door and immerse yourself in the mesmerizing sounds and sights of the jungle!

For sure you'll fall in love with the peace and beauty of this special country.

THE ACTIVITIES

Yoga - Rebecca's mission is to make yoga simple and approachable for everybody so all can derive the benefits of the practice without feeling incapable, overwhelmed, or frustrated. We will start each day with yoga to clear our minds and prepare our bodies for the adventures of the day - whether that's hiking a waterfall, taking an optional excursion, or simply lounging by the pool.

Chocolate Making Workshop - Learn how to make delicious chocolate rolls! The perfect example of a local small entrepreneur growing his business - Beto uses sustainable techniques, grinding chocolate with a manual grinder, and made from organic cacao grown in rich Costa Rican soil. We'll make our own chocolate bars with extras like ginger, almonds, and coconut. We'll also get to try some delicious chocolate and pick out some to take home as a souvenir!

Tortilla making workshop - Enjoy and participate in the preparation of an important Costa Rican tradition - the handmade corn tortilla! The instructor will give a brief explanation of how to make the tortillas as well as some cultural and traditional secrets of the  Costa Rican cook. After we've made the tortillas, we get to eat them!

Territorio de Zaguates - the land of the strays - is a no kill shelter in the mountains of Costa Rica. On our first full day in the country, we'll take an optional trip to walk with these furry friends! Over the last several years, founders Lya Battle and Alvaro Saumet have made it their mission to provide a home to each and every dog they take care of. While each of these dogs is up for adoption, it might be a little tricky to get them through customs ... ;)

What better way to start our retreat than being reminded of simple pleasures?

THE BENEFITS

So what do YOU get out of spending 10 incredible days exploring and enjoying yourself on an exquisitely luscious trip to Costa Rica?

Well, what if you discovered a new found love and respect for all mankind? And what if that new sense of unity led to a more peaceful and loving world?

Would that be worth coming to Costa Rica?

I think so!

Ok, I'm in!

*Due to it's remote location, transportation is a bit tricky. It is most efficient (time + cost) to take regional flights from San Jose to Golfito. From there, we will have a van to transport us to the lodge. These regional flights only run a select number of times throughout the day. Because of the sparse schedule, it is best to arrive in San Jose a day early and return to San Jose the night before your major flight leaves. As stated above, the 2 nights in San Jose will be included with the price of the retreat as well as breakfast on Saturday morning. You will be responsible for lunch on Saturday. Dinner will be provided at Tiskita Saturday evening. Upon returning to San Jose, you will be responsible for dinner Saturday evening and breakfast Sunday morning.

**Modified schedules can be accommodated for those unable to get away from work all 10 days. Shortened trips will be prorated.

Of course I'm coming!

I just wanted to read the whole page first.

ABOUT REBECCA

I went to my first yoga class while training to run a half marathon. I wasn't immediately in love, but I kept going. I spent a few years climbing the corporate ladder, but found it ultimately unsatisfying. I needed to do something more profound with my life. I realized my true purpose is to teach yoga.

My first trip to Costa Rica was 10 years ago. I went with my church to build a church in the small town of Las Palmas (you can't even find it on a map). A few years later, I convinced my mom to go back with me and see what was so special about this place. They have a saying down there "pura vida". It means "pure life". Every time I've been back since I've felt a sense of quality I don't get to experience every day at home.

I CAN'T WAIT to share the pura vida with you!
